Mandriva Company announced the release of commercial server distribution named Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.1. One of the main directions of its development is the organization of centralized control over the infrastructure of servers and workstations. Platform Pulse2 is used to organize the management. It supports such functions as maintaining inventory database computer, installing and updating applications on a group of machines, diagnostic services, and remote management.
The new version has significant changes in KVM, virtualization technology support. There are integrated tools for managing virtual environments and creating new environments. In addition, the new version has simplified installation process. The developers added special option which allows installing configured service sets of programs designed for a specific type of functionality (mail server, file server, print server, directory services, etc.). Distribution package also includes a directory server Mandriva Directory Server for organizing a centralized database of users integrated with such server applications as Samba, Postfix, Squid and CUPS. The special web-interface is created to manage LDAP-server.
The price of distribution is equal to 299 euros with an annual support contract, or 500 euros with a three-year support contract. The distribution will function during 5 years. In 2014 the company will present the new version. Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.1 is certified for compatibility with standard LSB 4.0.
